Darren, his son Brandon, and their carpentry team did a stellar restoration of our Oast cowl. The cowl was rotten as it had not been well maintained: the rotting wood could be seen from the ground. The repair work took about 3 weeks - perfectly reasonable for the various coats of paint that go on top of new timber. We are very happy with the results and will be using D&A for future maintenance. It was astonishing to see them at work removing and refitting: fearless at such a height.

Darren and team were excellent when restoring our 2 cowls. We also needed a water tight solution when re-installing the cowls. This has been done as explained and to the original quote. The cowl on our oast had got really creaky and had started banging around in the wind. Darren suggested it possibly needed a new bearing, which we thought was needed and the 2 guys he sent were amazing. If you need your cowl refurbished or replaced then Dude and Arnette are the absolute go-to people. We recently had our cowl completely replaced with a beautiful new one as our old cowl had pretty much disintegrated. The craftsmanship is absolutely beautiful. Their knowledge, expertise and professionalism is second to none. Darren and his team go above and beyond, are all extremely personable and a pleasure to deal with (and in addition provide an awesome spectacle to post on social media when dismantling and erecting the cowl again!). I suffered significant storm damage to my Oast cowl, the result of which was the cowl leaning horribly and flapping around dangerously, causing damage to the roof and looking like it could topple off with the slightest gust of wind. Darren popped round within hours of speaking to him, agreed that fast action was needed and had the cowl off and the roof weatherproofed within a couple of days. There was then a massive delay (due entirely to errors made by my home insurers) which must have caused issues for Darren, but he was patient and understanding throughout. Once the insurers sorted out their issues, Darren was back in a flash to repair the roof and replace the beautifully restored cowl to a very high standard. Very pleased with the work that Darren and his team at Dude and Arnette carried out recently for me. When I discovered that the middle of my 3 cowls was leaning backwards and had nothing supporting it Darren was on site within a few hours. Scaffolding was erected quickly and the replacement to all 3 Cowls was carried out in just over a week. Would recommend them without hesitation to anyone.
